Dear Col. Brierton,
On Saturday, August 11th at approximately 11:00 p.m. I was pulled over by Trooper A.L. Hughes III, ID#2794. Trooper Hughes noticed that I was not driving as safely as I should and initiated a traffic stop. Trooper Hughes was courteous and professional in the manner which he conducted the stop. Trooper Hughes took the time to learn that I was on the tail end of a long drive returning home to Gainesville. It was evident that I was tired and it was reflected in my driving behavior. Trooper Hughes took the time to help me catch a second wind and directed me to a service station where I could get coffee and rest so that I could safely continue on my journey home without putting my wife, myself or any other member of the motoring public. Trooper Hughes is a credit to your agency and I wanted to make sure that you were aware that this citizen is grateful for his help.
I know that so many individuals are so quick to criticize our law enforcement personal, but fail to say thank you when appropriate. Please let Trooper Hughes know that this citizen is grateful for his service and if I can ever be of help to him or his family that he should not hesitate to call on me. Below you will find my contact information.
