Greetings, I will start this email by saying that I am an Englishman and have been driving since 1997. During my twelve years behind the wheel I have never been stopped in any manner for my driving in the UK or the USA, up until a few months ago when I was stopped by Trooper Hendrix in Panama City Beach and was given a warning for speeding. I acknowledge fully that I deserved a ticket and would not have contested it should it have been given.
I have lived in Florida for four years and up until this point I considered myself a conscientious and safe driver. Since I was given the warning I have had plenty of time to reflect on my own approach to driving and that although I know I am in control of my own vehicle and trust my own instincts and reflexes implicitly, it does nothing for every other driver on the road.
I feel that I have improved both my outlook on driving and how I handle myself on the road. Rather than looking at other drivers and reacting to their actions I make sure I stay within the limits and ensure that other drivers out there do not have to worry about my vehicle travelling too fast on the road.
Please extend my thanks to Trooper Hendrix, and if possible forward this email to him. His clemency has made a very positive impact on my life on the road and I feel he should know that.
Merry Christmas to all at FHP.
