Dear Major Duarte:
I was involved in a minor traffic crash in Tampa on May 4, 2006 (FHPC06OFF047964), on N. Dale Mabry Hwy and Carrollwood Springs. Rush hour was upon us. There were no injuries to either driver. I phoned the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office and they told me that the FHP would be responding (even though we saw three deputies drive by after we had pulled into a local parking lot so as not to block traffic). A short time later Trooper Christopher W. Wells arrived. He was very professional not only in his appearance but his demeanor. I new that this crash wasn't something to look forward (I'm a retired Sgt. from Tampa PD). He apologized for taking so long to respond (I thought his response time was great) and proceeded to conduct his investigation. Trp. Wells was not in a hurry and quite thorough not only in the physical investigation but in conducting interviews. I'm certain that the Patrol is proud to have Troopers of Trp. Wells calibre caring for the citizens of Florida. Although I thanked him at the scene, I felt it proper to advise you and Colonel Knight of this. I suspect that your Department receives many more complaints than it does "pats on the back". I'm pleased to provide a "pat on the back" when its due.
