It is with great appreciation that I submit this letter of commendation to a Florida Highway Patrol Trooper.
At approximately 1320 hours on August 7, 2006, I had just passed through the toll booth on the Veteran's Expressway south of Hillsborough Avenue in Tampa when my left rear tire blew out. I pulled off of the main road and called American Automobile Association however was advised that it would be up to an hour before assistance would be provided.
Within 10 minutes, a Florida Highway Patrol vehicle, pulled alongside and to the rear of my vehicle. The Trooper (name of Vaughn) said he would assist me, and I advised him that I had called AAA, and would happily wait for them The temperature was approximately 92 degrees, hot and sunny. Trooper Vaughn stated that he did not want me sitting on the side of the highway waiting for AAA and proceeded to change my flat tire.
As I am a 72 year old widow, I cannot thank Trooper Vaughn and your organization enough for coming to my aid. Please convey my deepest appreciation to Trooper Vaughn and his superiors for their obvious training and consideration.
Thank you so very much.
