Allow me to take this opportunity to make two apologies to Trooper May, Badge #1553. My first point of apology is that on Jan 2, 2006, I put Trooper May in harms way by speeding and causing him to stop me on the Howard Frankland Bridge. The second point of apology is that it took me so long to write this letter.
I was embarrassed for causing a situation where I was stopped for a traffic violation. Trooper May was professional and kind during our contact. As a retired Police Chief from Michigan, I must say that his demeanor and appearance were outstanding. He is a credit to the Florida Highway Patrol. I would have been proud to have an officer such as Trooper May work in my department.
Trooper May has the ability to treat people with respect and I am sure that he has been able to turn many potential negative contacts into situations that enhance the respect given to the Florida Highway Patrol. His caring and compassionate attitude is to be commended.
Trooper May, Badge # 1553 is an exemplary representative of the Florida Highway Patrol.
