I just wanted the department to know how thankful and grateful we are for one of your officers, Officer Lopez (sorry, I do not know his first name).
On March 7, 2006, my husband and I were traveling, from Georgia, on the Florida turnpike with the desitination of Vero Beach, Fl. We were driving a huge E350 box van truck and towing a 12 foot trailer. About 9 miles from the Canoe Creek service plaza, our truck broke a belt and blew a water hose.
Within 5 mins of being on the side of the road, Officer Lopez pulled up and started to assist us. He called the Road Ranger. After evaluating the situation, he took my husband to get the parts to fix the truck. But, not only that, he made sure that I was safe and had the Road Ranger stay with me! They tried to fix the truck on the side of the road, but found the water pump had also gone. Officer Lopez helped us locate a mechanic at the service plaza who could put on a new pump, and once again took my husband to get the part so we could have it fixed and be on our way! (All this started about 4pm, so we were really in a bind!).
It is always scary when you are traveling so far from home and you have a mechanical mishap. We are so thankful for all the help that Officer Lopez gave us. Being stranded in a different state, not knowing where to go or what to do is always stressful, but because of Officer Lopez we were able to get through the ordeal and get on our way.
Thank you Officer Lopez for serving the public the way you do! I will be telling this story for years to come and how incredible the FHP was to help us out in our time of need!
