On Friday July 28, 2006, my wife and I were travelling north with our granddaughters on I-75 in Pasco County when we had a blow out of our right front tire. My wife was driving at the time and did a wonderful job of controlling our Lexus SUV as she slowed and pulled off the right side of the highway and partially onto the grass. The tire was shredded.

As we were putting out a reflective triangle safety standard and unloading the car to gain access to the spare tire it was the Florida Highway Patrol to the rescue in the name of Officer Michael Jarabek. He is our hero. His flashing lights helped protect us from oncoming traffic. He helped us jack the car, remove the ruined and very hot tire, and mount the spare. It was a very positive educational experience for our two granddaughters, age 15 and 12. The 15 year old had just been granted a learners' permit and got a real life lesson. The officer was kind, professional, and a real blessing to us.

Please thank him for going above and beyond hie duties. He exceeded expectations.
