TO: Trooper Larry Coggins, Jr.
FROM: Lieutenant Kristina D. Quenneville
SUBJECT: Citizen Commendation
On this date, the Lakeland District Florida Highway Patrol was contacted by a private citizen who wanted to recognize a trooper for enforcement observed in the area of West Pipkin Road and Old CR 37. Every day in this area vehicles frequently pass stopped vehicles in the safety zone at high speeds, often traveling into the oncoming lane of traffic. This day was no exception, as a pickup passed not only you and the caller, but several other vehicles, creating a dangerous situation. The caller, who professed his respect for the professionalism of the Florida Highway Patrol, was pleased to observe the trooper, who was later determined to be you, conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle. He commented that you could have chosen to disregard the violation, but instead did your job. Your patrol vehicle, uniform appearance and professional bearing greatly impressed the caller, who greatly respects the Florida Highway Patrol. It was subsequently determined that the violator was a juvenile driving with a suspended license.
As public affairs officer, you are responsible for representing the agency to the public through various forms of media, to include print and television. It is commendable to find that you maintain the same professionalism in your daily enforcement of the laws of the State of Florida and embodiment of the Department, where you are just as visible as in front of a camera lens. Keep up the good work!
