I would like to take a moment to express my appreciation for one of your troopers.
On May 18th , 2004, friends were traveling from Austin, Texas to vacation with us for three weeks. On highway 75 just before the 75 / 275 split they lost a wheel on their camper. The wheel sheared all six lugs off and they do not know when it happened. Another motorist notified them of its loss and they pulled over. My friends contacted FHP and Trooper Christopher Todd of Troop C - Land O'Lakes responded. Before I could get there to assist, Trooper Todd had instructed Mrs. McCandless to stay locked in her pickup and had taken Mr. McCandless several miles back to a brake shop to have the old lugs removed and new ones installed so they could finish their journey to St. Pete. I am not sure what FHP policy is but as far as we are concerned, Trooper Todd did much more than expected to assist and as a result the McCandless family had only a short delay in their vacation. I am very proud of the assistance they received and they will remember our state and its police agencies fondly.
Please thank Trooper Todd again for us.
