To Whom It May Concern:
I want to inform you of an outstanding officer this past Friday evening (October 9th). I am a teacher at Cardinal Mooney High School in Sarasota and I was driving one of our mini buses to a varsity football game. On approaching the top of the skyway Bridge our bus had serious mechanical problems and just stalled while I was on the inside lane. I put the hazard lights on and coasted over to the right lane and stopped the bus. The girls were extremely nervous but the coach and I calmed everyone down. The coach called 911 and officer Palsea (sp?) who was working the 3 - 11 shift on the bridge responded in minutes. He assured me we were safe and allowed us to determine the best course of action to get the girls and the bus off the bridge. A few phone calls later parents on their way to the game were pulling over and picking up the girls and a tow truck was on the way.
My whole purpose of this letter is to thank Officer Palsea for his professionalism and support during this very stressful time. Being stuck on top of the Skyway is one problem but having 21 very nervous high school varsity cheerleaders really adds to the stress. Officer Palsea assured me he would not leave until we all were pick up. He parked behind our bus, left his light flashing and gave us all a real sense of safety.
On behalf of Cardinal Mooney High School, our Cheerleaders, Coaches, and Teacher/Bus Driver, we thank you very much and please let Officer Palsea know how much we sincerely appreciate his help.
