On Sunday the 20th of June '04 one of the families of our congregation, the Beth-El Mission, was involved in an accident close to our facilities at 18240 US 301, in Wimauma, Florida (Hillsborough County). Three automoviles were involved. Minutes after the accident Officer B. Mcelderry (Badge 2622) showed up and in a most professional and caring manner coordinated the efforts of the rescue agencies, paramedics and dealt with the big crowd made up of neighbors and members of the church. I was called out of the church by a member who saw the accident and helped translate for Officer Mcelderry since all the folks involved were Spanish speaking.
The officer's coolness under amazing pressure, his kind and gentle manner and the thorough and competent way he dealt with all the procedures and paperwork involved made the difference between a potential tragedy due to the seriousness of the wounds of those hurt and a situation that was resolved with no loss of life, a minimum of confussion and a community grateful and admiring of the Florida Highway Patrol.
Our thanks and prayers go to officer McElderry, a credit to the FHP and to all the women and men who like him make our roads and communities safer. May the Lord keep on blessing him abundantly so that he and the FHP continue being a blessing to others.
In His service;
