Florida Highway Patrol
To whom it may concern:
I wanted to take this opportunity to recognize the service and friendly assistance rendered to my family on March 29, 2003 by Corporal Ernie Chapman.
On that occasion, I was traveling back from the Orlando area to Miami with my elderly mother and my young son. Just before sunset, the car we were driving suddenly overheated, began smoking and I immediately pulled over on the Florida Turnpike just south of the Stuart exit. A call went out to the FHP that we were in distress and Trooper Chapman appeared on the scene shortly after. He was very courteous and helpful, making us feel secure as night began to fall. He called in for towing assistance and waited with us for more than half an hour until the tow truck arrived and we were safely in the cab of the tow truck.
I understand that he will soon be retiring. I wanted to acknowledge his understanding, professionalism and helpfulness under our difficult circumstances. He is a credit to the Florida Highway Patrol. My son and mother also remember him fondly.
We wish him the best in his future.
Please see that this letter of recognition reaches his attention.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Alan Lithman
