On Monday, May 13th, 2002 around 8:30 am, I was on my way to work via the Homestead Extension of the Turnpike, when I got a flat tire. Although I called FHP right away via my cell, it took a second call before help arrived. However, I was not dissapointed (I know I was not the only one in the road who needed help).

About an hr later, Trooper Antonio Cardas of Troop K, Post 1 arrived. He was great in making sure I got help as soon as possible since he knew I had been waiting for a while. He stayed behind my car the entire time ensuring my safety, which is very appreciated since I was travelling alone. The Turnpike's Tow Truck driver (Bruce Flanders) was also very polite. Again, Mr. Cardas stayed the entire time, ensuring our safety.

I drove to work very happy that day. My rescuers were rays of light in the midst of a cloudy morning...

Sincerely, Diana Umpierre, Pembroke Pines, FL

p.s. Please, let him know that his job means a lot and that little things always count...
