The Florida Turnpike is committed to creating a safe environment for motorists using "Florida's Main Street." During the recent Thanksgiving Holiday, the eight service plazas provided a Holiday Safe Break opportunity for patrons by furnishing them with a free cup of coffee, checking child safety restraint systems and even 500 hands free cell phone devices were given away, courtesy of Verizon Wireless.

Motorists traveling along the Florida Turnpike have always commented on how well the roadway is maintained and how safe they feel traveling on it. The service plazas are always clean and secure with the presence of Florida State Troopers and professional service personnel on duty twenty-four hours a day. Enterprise Executive Director, Jim Ely, has always made it a priority to serve the public in every facet of the operation. The "Safety Break" program allows for motorists to take a break and refresh themselves on long holiday journeys.

The Turnpike Enterprise is also committed to opening the roadway as quickly as possible following a crash involving large trucks. Recently, Johnson's Towing of Orlando demonstrated how quickly a tractor-trailer might be up-righted after overturning during a traffic crash. The commitment to the "Open Roads Policy" by the Enterprise includes bonuses paid to contractors for the rapid recovery of the roadway to traffic use.
