Recently, Road Ranger Chris Sparks assisted a motorist on Interstate 4 eastbound whose black Nissan had broken down. He requested that the motorist call to get the abandoned vehicle towed as soon as possible. Shortly afterward, Sparks noticed the black Nissan in tow on I-4 and called the citizen to thank him for making arrangements in such a timely manner. The citizen was quite surprised, stating that he had not yet made arrangements to have his car removed. Sparks immediately notified FHP dispatch to report the incident. Quickly, the tow truck driver for Marquez Towing Company was stopped. Sergeant Josepha Sims and Trooper Randolph Herschelman began an investigation and concluded that the tow truck driver had stolen the black Nissan. The driver was arrested and the tow truck was seized. Several other similar incidents of vehicle theft on I-4 and I-95 are currently being investigated.
