with the U. S. Treasury Bonds.

The U.S. Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation recently presented Preston Tucker Brown, son of Sgt. George Andy Brown, with $20,000 in U. S. Treasury Bonds. In April 2004, Tucker Brown lost his father, Sgt. Andy Brown, when he was killed in a traffic crash while trying to overtake a traffic violator in Columbia County. Sgt. Brown's vehicle left the roadway and struck several trees. Sadly, he died at the scene. Tragically, only months earlier, Tucker had lost his mother to cancer. Fellow trooper, David Sellers and his wife, Rebecca, have taken Tucker into their family.

To help with Tucker's future education costs, Lt. Ryan E. Burchnell took the initiative to help secure some special scholarship funds for Sgt. Brown's son. Lt. Burchnell contacted the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation and explained to them the events that led to the untimely death of Sgt. Brown. The Foundation was touched by Tucker's losses and ordered the $20,000 Maturity Value U. S. Treasury Bonds to be used for his college education.

The Law Enforcement Foundation's purpose is to provide educational bonds to children of Marines and Law Enforcement Agents who are killed in the line of duty. The Foundation provided the bonds to Tucker Brown in recognition of his father's outstanding service to the Marines and to the Florida Highway Patrol. Sgt. Brown served the citizens of Florida for 33 years. This scholarship money is intended to help offset the cost of Tucker's higher education. On November 5, 2004, Lt. Burchnell and Major Richard Carpenter presented Tucker Brown with the bonds.
