On three different occasions in Troop C, three troopers made traffic stops that led to the arrest of five career criminals.
Pasco County - After stopping a speeding motorist in Land-O-Lakes, Trooper John Sessa arrested the driver for an outstanding murder warrant from another state. The suspect was taken into custody and extradited back to Virginia.
Brooksville - Trooper David Frye stopped a violator for excessive speed. During the stop, he detected an odor of marijuana. After searching the vehicle and occupants, Trooper Frye recovered marijuana, cocaine, and thousands of dollars in cash. The three suspects were arrested without incident.
Also in Brooksville - A simple window tint violation prompted Trooper Hazen Ogden to stop a driver and ask him a few questions. After detecting an odor of marijuana, Trooper Ogden searched the vehicle and found evidence of the driver’s residency that conflicted with comments made by the driver. To investigate further, Trooper Ogden traveled to a neighboring community location where he discovered a significant number of marijuana plants. Another arrest in the bag.
