Trooper demonstrates the rollover for students

FHP recently participated in several safety events in Troop A in the Florida Panhandle area using one of the agency’s popular Rollover Simulators to demonstrate the safety message that seat belts save lives! First, FHP participated in the annual Kool Kids Day at Chipola College in Marianna. Lt. Steve Preston and Auxiliary Trooper John Webster operated the Rollover at this year’s event, which was sponsored by the Panhandle Area Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Coalition and targeted area third graders from Calhoun, Holmes, Jackson, Liberty, and Washington Counties. Every year, several local agencies including FHP set aside a special day to provide area children with valuable safety lessons and demonstrations.

The following week in Pensacola, FHP set up a display at a Gulf Power Safety Day where Gulf Power employees in the Pensacola area gathered for lunch at a special safety event. Troopers provided the employees with safety tips regarding travel to and from work and vehicle maintenance safety information. To reinforce the importance of wearing seat belts, FHP used the Rollover Simulator and shared their personal experiences of working crashes where seatbelts saved lives.
