On August 20, 2005, the Troop L-Lantana Unit of the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary conducted a driver license checkpoint on State Road 812 in Palm Beach County. The FHPA members have been active the past few months supporting the local district's enforcement efforts with these checkpoints.

Prior to the start of the checkpoint, the members decided to also present the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation with a $500 donation, funded, in part, by the local Coca-Cola Bottling Company who partnered with FHP during several natural disasters, offering several hundred cases of bottled water to keep troopers hydrated during hurricane recovery efforts.

Troop L's Lantana District Commander, Captain Louis Ramil, expressed his deep appreciation for all the hard work the Auxiliary has contributed to his district on countless occasions. A special thanks to Ted Kudlinski, Barry Schrader and Michelle Frith at the Coca-Cola Bottling Company for their continued support of the Florida Highway Patrol and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
