Troopers conducting DUI checkpoint

During a recent holiday travel week, Troop L troopers conducted a sobriety checkpoint in Palm Beach County on Military Trail (S.R.809) in response to several alcohol-related fatal crashes involving teen drivers that occurred this year on this roadway. District Commander Captain Luis Ramil decided to take the lead with a multi-agency sobriety checkpoint before the travel week. Sheriff's deputies and a variety of city police officers teamed up with troopers to help the public gain a sense of awareness about the dangers and consequences of drinking and driving during this holiday period.

The show of force at the sobriety checkpoint was exceptional thanks to the assistance of the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary, Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office, Department of Transportation, and the local chapter of MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Drivers). Collectively, six drunk drivers were arrested and over 140 citations were issued. A special thanks to every law enforcement officer from the various agencies and every organization that participated in making the holiday travel a little bit safer for everyone.
