Colonel Knight, FHP recognized as having the top
Occupant Protection Program in Florida.
The Florida Highway Patrol recently received a giant eagle trophy for having the top Occupant Protection Team in the State of Florida at the annual State Traffic Safety Awards Ceremony held in Orlando. This award, sponsored by the Florida Department of Transportation was given at the award luncheon to members of the Occupant Protection Team, which consists of six troopers who serve as Occupant Protection Specialists in the field and one state coordinator who serves from General Headquarters and manages the program.

Over the past six years, the Occupant Protection Team has worked very hard in their traffic safety education efforts to educate the public on the importance of seat belt and child restraint use; and the dangers of driving under the influence, distracted driving, aggressive driving, and a variety of other traffic safety-related issues. The team members are well-deserving of this great honor!

FHP was also awarded four (4) more eagle trophies for the annual Troop Challenge. Troop C was named Top Troop, taking home the #1 Award for best troop entry; followed by Troop D with 2nd place; and Troop A for 3rd. Troop G placed a formidable 2nd place with their entry in the Championship Class. Together, FHP earned a whopping five (5) big wins at the annual event! FHP thanks all of its Public Affairs Officers and support staff in every participating troop for their excellent submissions. You did a phenomenal job and made the Patrol very proud this year!
