L to R: Major Grady Carrick, Sergeant Fouraker, Sheriff Neil Perry (St. Johns County – HIDTA Chairman), Special Agent Rafferty, and Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement Regional Agent In Charge Richard Horton.

Sergeant Harry Fouraker, assigned to Jacksonville’s Contraband Interdiction Program, was honored on August 7th by the Northeast Florida High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) in recognition for his bravery in trying to save the life of a woman involved in a severe traffic crash.

On July 3, 2003, Sergeant Fouraker arrived at a crash scene on I-95 and Dunn Avenue in Duval County and found a vehicle totally engulfed in flames with the female occupant trapped inside. Sgt. Fouraker immediately tried to extinguish the flames, placing himself at great risk as he attempted to rescue the victim. Special Agent Sean Rafferty, Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, also arrived on the scene to assist Sergeant Fouraker. Unfortunately, they were working with inadequate fire fighting equipment for a fire of this magnitude, and were unable to save the victim. These two men are to be commended for their actions.
