FHP's Light Armor Vehicle (LAV) was a big hit at the recent Hernando Desoto Heritage Festival Parade in Bradenton. This parade is one of the largest celebrations in Manatee County, with over 200,000 spectators. Troopers Todd Bergman and Sean McCormick represented Troop F in the parade, along with Corporal J.R. Wigfall, who traveled from Troop K (Turnpike) to drive the LAV in the parade. Captain Brad Pelton, assisted by personnel from the Department of Transportation, helped secure the LAV during its travel to and from Manatee County. Troop F's Commander, Major Rebecca Tharpe, thought the LAV would be a welcomed addition to the parade. Based on the crowd's response, she was right. The LAV certainly helped make this year's parade a huge success.
