The Florida Criminal Justice Executive Institute recently announced the graduation of 24 first-line supervisors from the Florida Leadership Academy held on May 12, 2006, at the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Headquarters in Tallahassee. The Florida Highway Patrol is proud to have two graduates in the class. Each graduate from the FDLE sponsored academy represents criminal justice agencies around the state.

The goal of the Florida Leadership Academy is to prepare first-line supervisors in handling difficult dilemmas common in criminal justice while providing tools in exercising sound judgment as a leader. Participants in the Florida Leadership Academy learn skills necessary to support the needs of their agency and needs within the community as they enter the new millennium and prepare for the changes that lie ahead.

The Florida Criminal Justice Executive Institute, established within the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and affiliated with the State University System, was established in 1990 by the Florida Legislature who recognized the need for an innovative and multifaceted approach to the education and training of criminal justice professionals. Since the FCJEI was established over 15 years ago, 850 officers representing agencies throughout the criminal justice community have completed the specialized training.

Congratulations to Sergeants Josepha Sims and Eric Plummer!
