about the enforcement operation.

Recently, Miami troopers made good on their promise to stop every speeding vehicle on an undisclosed major Miami expressway between 10 AM and 1 PM to kick off Operation Safe Ride. Once the operation got underway, the media was advised of the location and swarmed the Don Shula Expressway in south Miami-Dade County to witness the event. A Miami Herald reporter rode in Troop E’s aircraft piloted by Sgt. D.J. Torres while fifteen troopers in marked and unmarked patrol cars worked the roadway, stopping over one hundred speeders. Every TV station in Miami, including Spanish Language TV, reported to Miami residents that FHP was serious about making an impact on speeders and dangerous drivers. Thankfully, no serious crashes occurred during Operation Safe Ride, but troopers issued plenty of citations during the intensive and successful operation.
