The Florida chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) kicked off this year's Legislative Awareness Week on the steps of the State Capitol, honoring over 200 Florida law enforcement officers who made a serious commitment to removing drunk drivers from our roadways. Among this year's DUI 100 Club were thirteen of our own FHP troopers from all across the state who made 100 or more DUI arrests last year. Together, these troopers arrested a total of 1,647 drunk drivers - very impressive!
Members of MADD and the Florida Legislature spoke to the audience of lawmakers, citizens, media, and visitors about the importance of aggressive DUI enforcement and the need to continue strides toward stricter laws and punishments for DUI violators. Afterwards, the officers and their families enjoyed a formal luncheon at the Leon County Civic Center where they received their awards. In addition, MADD named Colonel Chris Knight a 2005 Honoree for his dedicated service and commitment to stopping impaired drivers in Florida.

Colonel Christopher Knight receives a special award.
