Lieutenant Colonel Taylor
Lt. Colonel Paul B. Taylor

The Florida Highway Patrol is saddened to announce the death of retired Lieutenant Colonel Paul B. Taylor, who passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2007, after a long battle with cancer. Lieutenant Colonel Taylor served the Florida Highway Patrol for over 37 years, and retired on June 30, 2003. He was stationed in several areas of the state, most noteably in Troop F where he served as Troop Commander in the 1980’s. He was the longtime Deputy Director of Field Operations for the Patrol, and upon his retirement was serving as Deputy Director of Special Operations, which included oversight of the Bureau of Investigations. He was twice named Interim Director of the FHP, first when Colonel Bobby Burkett retired in 1992, and then again in 1997 when Colonel Ronald Grimming resigned. Lt. Colonel Taylor served as a member of the FHP's Advisory Council.

Please keep Lieutenant Colonel Taylor's children, Cindy and Paul, Jr., and his entire family in your thoughts.
