Recently Troopers Steven Varnell and Robert Lanese stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. During the stop, the driver was unable to produce a driver's license. Several other indicators of criminal activity were observed during the stop and a subsequent K-9 search was conducted. A positive alert was made by K-9 "Draco" and a Trafficking amount of Methamphetamine was discovered hidden inside a plastic drink cup under the center console. A more thorough search revealed marijuana, several items of drug paraphernalia, and over $11,000.00 dollars in U.S. Currency. The driver and passenger were both arrested and booked into the Hillsborough County Jail.
