Major Randy Brown, who was born in West Palm Beach and grew up in Jacksonville, joined the FHP in 1978 after graduating from the Academy, and was assigned to Troop D, Kissimmee. Major Brown worked in Kissimmee for three years and then was transferred to Troop G, Jacksonville in 1981. Later he was promoted to traffic homicide in 1983; promoted to corporal in 1984; upgraded to sergeant in 1985; and promoted to lieutenant in 1987.

In 1989, Major Brown was assigned as a Public Information Officer, serving for five years conducting over 500 safety programs for more than 85,000 people. His work included two trips overseas with the U.S. Navy and appearing on weekly radio and TV shows representing the Patrol to promote important traffic safety messages.

In 1994, Major Brown promoted to Captain and served as District Commander of the Jacksonville District for seven years before being promoted to the rank of Major as the Troop Commander for Troop A, Panama City.

Major Brown has retired after 29 dedicated years of service. He will now spend his time with his wife of 20 years and enjoy his children Jason and Katelyn.
