Trooper Conya Bassett and Boy Scout Bobby Carlson at the South Florida Fair
The 2004 South Florida Fair, held January 16-February 1, 2004, in West Palm Beach saw the Florida Highway Patrol once again conducting recruitment and traffic safety presentations at their display booth--just one of many sources of information available for the public. This year, Troopers Conya Bassett and Archie McNair did an outstanding job keeping the public informed on a variety of traffic safety issues, including the dangers of aggressive driving and impaired driving, and the importance of wearing seat belts and using child safety seats.

Trooper Bassett talks to these young mothers
about the importance of properly restraining their children in the car.
Charles Ansaroft, owner of Ansaroft Painting Inc., who had his display booth right next to the Florida Highway Patrol's booth said that he could not believe the amount of questions Trooper Basset had to answer about child passenger safety. He stated, "at times, Trooper Bassett had more than 30 people at her booth requesting information on car seats. If I could only get half of that business, I would be a busy man."

Trooper McNair, Trooper Nathaniel Starke and FHPA Trooper Jim Porter
Trooper McNair and FHPA Trooper Jim Porter provided recruitment information for 6 hours a day while still conducting their background investigations duties.
Thanks for a great job well done!!!!
