The Florida Highway Patrol’s vintage 1940 Ford patrol car, driven by Trooper Pete Gonzalez, served as the honorary pace car during a parade lap for NASCAR’s season ending Ford 400 race at Homestead-Miami Speedway . The race, held on a beautiful south Florida Sunday afternoon, was the grand finale for this year’s Ford Championship Weekend with Gregg Biffle winning his third straight Ford 400 victory. In addition, Jimmie Johnson clinched his first NEXTEL Cup Title with a 9th place finish. Race fans loved seeing the old FHP Patrol Car, and the Speedway staff invited us back for next year’s championship race.
