FHP members from the Turnpike round up 1,900 donated teddy bears to give to children in need.
It's another end of the year Teddy Bear Round-Up on the Florida Turnpike! Once again, FHP collected bags and bags of donated teddy bears given by generous turnpike employees, citizens and business partners to give to needy children--those who are victims of traffic crashes or whose family vehicle is broken down along the turnpike. This year, FHP members of Troop K gathered up nearly 2,000 bears to be
distributed to troopers working the Turnpike to be used to comfort children
in times of need. Shown above from left to right are Sgt. Robert Hunkiar,
Lt. Steve Compton, Sgt. Jeanie Thompson, Trooper Kathy Casella, Trooper
Carlos Austin, Duty Officer Thomas Morrison, and Lt. Pat Santangelo.
