Exec. Dir. Jones and Capt. Crotta

The Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles Executive Director, Julie Jones, presented two Executive Director’s Awards at a recent ceremony to Captain George Crotta and Milton Grosz. This award is given for exceptional performance that reflects the Department’s core values of service... Integrity, Courtesy, Professionalism, Innovation and Excellence.

Captain George Crotta has worked for the Patrol for the past 26 years and has poured his heart and soul into performing his duties for each of those years. For the past 15 years, Crotta has been instrumental in helping to fill the Patrol’s vacant positions as part of the Recruitment and Background Section. He is always willing to stay until the job is done, often working long into the night without complaint. He has a “can-do” attitude and works hard to always get the job done right the first time.

In the past five years, Crotta and his small group of background investigators have been responsible for inviting more than 700 candidates to FHP’s Training Academy. This includes 125 candidates in 2011, 153 candidates in 2012 and they are already up to 141 candidates for 2013. Thanks to the efforts of Crotta and his staff of background investigators around the state, the DHSMV is in a better position to be able to accomplish its mission of a safer Florida. The Patrol is very proud of his accomplishments and incredible work ethic.

Exec. Dir. Jones and Milton GroszMilton Grosz is universally trusted and nationally known as a subject matter expert in DUI/Interlock Programs, driver improvement course approvals and in the licensing of commercial driving schools. He routinely is asked to provide statistical data to scientists across the country to assist their research endeavors. Grosz recently assisted Dr. Robert Voas, considered the leading Ignition Interlock Device expert working out of the Pacific Institute of Research and Evaluation, by helping him evaluate and analyze Florida’s DUI and Interlock Device clients and their recidivism rates. He has taken the lead on multiple research projects and always conducts these with the upmost integrity.

Grosz’s approach to providing excellence in all he does is demonstrated in the extraordinary customer service he provides to both internal and external customers of DHSMV. This commitment is evidenced by the 20 Davis Productivity Awards he has received throughout his career. To add to Grosz’s already impressive list of accomplishments, he was recently published in the scientific journal Alcoholism: Clinical and Experimental Research on Florida’s DUI and Ignition Interlock Device programs.

Congratulations to Captain George Crotta and Milton Grosz on receiving this well-deserved award!
