The Florida Highway Patrol Training Academy has established a well founded partnership with Pyramid Inc. Developmental Center, a facility that assists persons that suffer from various disabilities.

Prior to the 119th Basic Recruit Class arriving at the Florida Highway Patrol Training Academy, arrangements were made to have the recruits visit the center. The developed partnership allows the recruits to visit and interact with persons who suffer from the affects of many types of disabilities.

The Programming Coordinator of Pyramid Inc., Eric Brown, gave a comprehensive overview of the services provided to the students and allowed the recruits access to the facility. Mr. Brown was genuinely thankful that the Florida Highway Patrol returned to the facility to visit with his students.

The recruits gave impromptu dissertations about pedestrian safety as well as bicycle safety. The Pyramid students were so grateful for the presence of the Florida Highway Patrol that they performed an outdoor music concert. The recruits were awestruck by the students overall abilities, personalities and friendliness. In turn, they performed for the students as well by performing close order marching drills.

The recruits also provided the students with coloring books, crayons, pencils, magnetic patrol cars and junior trooper badges.
