Troop L personnel congratulate Tony on his award.

After retiring from Motorola as a designer mechanic, Antony Potts knew that he wanted to work in his community and help those that were less fortunate than him. So in 2004 Tony joined the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary unit in Lake Worth. Auxiliary Trooper Potts quickly achieved the honor of working daily with Florida’s finest law enforcement troopers as they patrol the roadways throughout Palm Beach County. But being part of the team wasn’t enough for Tony as he recorded 1,706 volunteer hours during 2008 and then surpassed that achievement in 2009 with 1,975 hours worked.

In March Governor Charlie Crist gave the Points of Light award to Auxiliary Trooper Potts. The Points of Light award is managed by The Volunteer Florida Foundation and recognizes those that give of themselves to help others. “Trooper Potts is a great Floridian and public servant,” said Governor Crist. The Florida Highway Patrol is extremely proud of Tony and all of the women and men that serve in the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary.

Auxiliary Trooper Potts will continue to dedicate a large amount of his time to serve the citizens of Florida.
