Maj. Carlos Vazquez is the new troop commander of Troop F, which covers Florida’s southwest coastal area. He began his career with the Florida Highway in 1990 and spent most of his career in Tampa. Vazquez has an Associate in Arts from the Hillsborough Community College and is currently working toward a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology at the University of South Florida. He has completed FHP’s Executive Leadership training.

“During their long-standing careers with the Patrol, our three new troop commanders have demonstrated the skills and abilities necessary to be effective leaders. They are ready for the next step in their careers, which requires a great amount of self-initiative and responsibility,” said Czernis of the Patrol’s newest majors. “I have full confidence in their abilities to lead as they are charged with an eye toward meeting our agency vision of a Safer Florida.”
