On December 16, 2009, the 53 members of the Florida Highway Patrol’s 118th Basic Recruit Class undertook the all-important Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission’s State Officer Certification Exam. The Florida Highway Patrol Training Academy has a long history of being ranked among the top 5 training centers in terms of success rates on the state certification exam and the members of the 118th Basic Recruit Class did not disappoint - 100 percent of the class successfully passed the certification exam on their first attempt. It is also important to note that this is the second recruit class in a row to achieve 100 percent success on the State Officer Certification Exam during their first attempt.
The achievement reflects the strong effort put forth by every member of the class and the dedication of the members of the FHP Training Academy staff. The coordinators for the 118th Recruit Class are: Lieutenant Nancy Rasmussen, Sergeant Robert Boucher and Trooper John Castleberry. Their efforts are supported by Captain Bryan Hudson, Lieutenant Jimmie Collins, Lieutenant Dan Hinton, Sergeant David Carter, Sergeant Keely Weaver, Trooper Melissa Oman and Trooper Walter Liddell. This achievement can also be attributed to the efforts of the non-sworn support staff, who are the people behind the scenes, that keep the training program maintained.
