The Florida Highway Patrol and Department of Transportation District 4 worked together to construct a Traffic Operations Center at the Davie station. The former dispatch center has four large screen monitors, four work stations and two computers and a large wall map of Alligator Alley to be used in case a one way evacuation would be ordered.

We are able to monitor all Interstates in Broward County including Alligator Alley out to the Collier County line and observe an incident before Troopers arrive on the scene.

The Traffic Operations Center will be used as a command post during a hurricane or if a one way evacuation is ordered. Along with FHP personnel, the room will be staffed with DOT personnel including Road Rangers and the Severe Incident Response Vehicle. We will be able to observe the crossover point along with the progress of the evacuation by watching the cameras on Alligator Alley. In the future we hope to add cameras from Collier County so we can monitor the complete one way evacuation from start to finish. This is one of the only highway patrol stations in the southeastern United States that can monitor a one way evacuation plan from its own building.
