Since July, Troopers have conducted numerous driver license checkpoints throughout Palm Beach, Broward, and the Treasure Coast Counties. This enforcement wave is the result of the new Florida Highway Patrol Operation, DL-CORE initiative. FHP has developed a strategy for dealing with the large numbers of drivers operating vehicles without a valid driver license or with a suspended/revoked license, and/or no proof of insurance. The strategy is designated as DL-CORE, which stands for Driver License Chronic Offender Recognition and Enforcement, and consists of four components: Operation Roundup, Court Watch, Warrants and Statewide Driver License and Insurance Checkpoint.
Recently, Lt. Earl Brown and Lt. Chris Cribbs led enforcement efforts with troopers while conducting weekly checkpoints through-out Troop L. On several occasions the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary Troop L Unit members have enhanced enforcement operations by participating at the checkpoints. On August 29th, twelve members from the Troop L Auxiliary Unit assisted at a checkpoint on State Road 804 in Palm Beach County. The women and men of the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary can always be counted on when called upon to help serve the patrol and the citizens of Florida.
