The Fort Myers Regional Communication Center received a BOLO (Be On The Lookout) from the Desoto County Sheriff’s Office concerning a missing/ endangered person. The bolo stated that a silver alert would be issued for an eighty-seven year old male that had been missing since 7:00 a.m. July 22, 2009. He was driving a 1991 Chevrolet Corsica and was last seen in the vicinity of the Arcadia Village, NE 70, Arcadia. On July 23rd at 12:24 PM, a road ranger advised that a man at the 220 mile marker on Interstate 75 in Manatee County was in a disabled vehicle and was requesting a tow truck. Duty Officer Shawna Bond recognized the tag number as the same one that was in the BOLO from Desoto County. Sergeant James Vaught from the Bradenton District was dispatched to the scene and reported that the individual appeared to be ok and did not require medical attention. The attention to detail exhibited by Duty Officer Shawna Bond along with teamwork provided by her peers resulted in a successful recovery and safe return home.
