Corporal Tom Colalillo and Trooper Phillip Payne

Trooper Phillip Payne and Corporal Tom Colalillo, Troop G-St. Augustine, received a BOLO (Be On the Look Out) from the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office regarding a gold-colored Ford Taurus with dark tinted windows and four suspects that had attempted to car-jack and rob an individual in St. Johns County. The suspect vehicle had pulled in front of the victim’s vehicle and stopped suddenly. Three of the individuals in the car got out and approached the victim’s car with a gun. The victim backed up and drove off notifying the sheriff’s office of the incident. Trooper Payne and Corporal Colalillo searched the area for the suspect’s vehicle. Trooper Payne spotted the vehicle on State Road 312 approaching US-1 in southern St. Johns County and called Corporal Colalillo to assist in a felony stop of the vehicle. While detaining the suspects for the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office a Beretta .380 hand gun was found in the vehicle. All suspects were arrested and transported to jail.
