On December 17, 2008, Florida Highway Patrol troopers joined other law enforcement members in Bradford County for the Starke Police Department’s 4th annual Shop with a Cop event at the local Wal-Mart. One hundred children were given the opportunity to shop with a local police officer for Christmas gifts up to $100. The children were chosen by their teachers who selected those most in need from their classrooms. To be selected, the children also had to be progressing well academically and have good conduct records. Eleven troopers volunteered their time along with the other law enforcement officers to take the children around the store as they shopped for presents. All of the troopers agreed that they enjoyed the event as much as the children did and look forward to next year.
