On March 27, 2008, FHP participated in Miami-Dade County’s annual Learning for Life event where approximately 1,500 elementary and middle school students explored and learned about various careers and special interests.

Joining Troop E’s Public Affairs Officer, Lt. Pat Santangelo, were FHP motor squad Troopers Henry Gascon and Charles McCarran who displayed their motorcycles under a tent provided by Lt. James Durden. Children asked questions about the bikes and about what a trooper does on the job, as they rotated in groups to dozens of exhibits set up for the popular event.
