Major Cyrus Brown presents Duty Officer Kristy Leonard
with a special FHP clock.
Duty Officer Kristy Leonard was recently selected Duty Officer of the Year by her fellow duty officers at the Orlando Regional Communications Center. Kristy, who started working for the FHP as a duty officer in 1985, is a true professional in every sense of the word. She treats everyone in a courteous and respectful manner, and always remains cool and calm no matter the incident or the circumstances. She is the first to jump in and assist her fellow duty offices with whatever is needed by answering calls, requesting backup, directing other agencies, and assisting with paperwork.
During her career, Duty Officer Leonard has handled many and varied incidents from regular crash calls to working fatalities and officer down calls. In every case she works, she remains the anchor in the storm, demonstrating her vast knowledge, experience, and her competent presence on the radio or telephone.
In addition, Duty Officer Leonard also assists with training newly hired duty officers, and is thorough, competant, and patient with these nervous newcomers. She is one of the very best examples a new duty officer could aspire to become. It was with great pleasure that the Orlando Regional Communications Center was able to present Duty Officer Kristy Leonard with an award for her continued outstanding job performance. Congratulations!
