Recently, a *FHP call resulted in the arrest of a Tampa man in Polk County; a BOLO (Be On the Look Out) resulted in the capture of an armed suspect in Pasco County; and a woman's scream resulted in the capture of a suspect in Lakeland.

Lakeland troopers received a BOLO that a motorist traveling on Interstate 4 had just pointed a handgun at other drivers. Sgt. Greg Hennis responded to the area. With the aid of the Tampa Bay Regional Communications Center (TBRCC) duty officer who was talking to the caller, Sgt. Hennis was able to locate the suspect and stop the vehicle. With assistance from Trooper Lenita King and Cpl. James Matheny, the suspect was taken into custody without incident and the firearm was recovered. Quick response and teamwork put a man behind bars for aggravated assault with a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon.

Shortly after receiving a BOLO from the TBRCC regarding an armed subject who had reportedly fired numerous shots in a residential area, Land-O-Lakes District Trooper Jose Ramos spotted the vehicle that matched the BOLO and the description of the subject in southern Pasco County. Trooper Ramos followed the subject into Hillsborough County and attempted a traffic stop once backup arrived. The subject refused to stop, and slowly proceeded to her nearby residence. Suddenly, she crashed into her garage and barricaded herself inside her home. After a brief standoff with FHP troopers and Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies, the subject finally cooperated and was taken into custody for numerous firearms offenses.

Lakeland District Sgt. Joseph Franza and Trooper Lee Denmark were recently in the right place at the right time when they heard the screams of a woman calling for help after witnessing a man being stabbed in a Lakeland business. The woman who was tending to the victim’s injuries was able to give our troopers a good description of the suspect and show them the direction in which he fled. Sgt. Franza and Trooper Denmark were successful in locating the suspect who was hiding in the immediate area. With EMS on the scene and the suspect in FHP custody, another violent criminal was removed from the streets of Lakeland. Good teamwork troopers!
