On Tuesday, April 4th Pilar Burrows accepts
a Proclamation on behalf of FHP’s Duty Officers
at the Palm Beach Board of County Commissioners meeting.
This week is set aside as National Telecommunications Week to honor the Nation's telecommunications workers for the job they do to help ensure public safety. National Telecommunications Week begins today, April 10, 2006, and runs through Friday, April 14, 2006. We ask that you join us in recognizing and commending the women and men in our seven FHP Regional Communications Centers for the job they do.
Every day we depend on the skill and commitment of our FHP Duty Officers. Our Duty Officers affect numerous lives by responding to emergency calls, dispatching troopers and other law enforcement agencies, providing moral support, and delivering services in a professional manner to the citizens we serve.
Many of us do not stop to think about our duty officers who constantly answer the calls for help from members of the public. This past year, Florida was again affected by dangerous hurricanes in addition to thousands of roadside emergencies, and our duty officers performed exceptionally, some putting their own personal needs aside in order to assist our troopers, citizens and visitors during stressful times.
It takes a special person with unique skills to do the job of a duty officer. We appreciate our duty officers and thank each of them for the manner in which they serve the Florida Highway Patrol, our citizens, and the visitors of our state.
