The Florida Highway Patrol, along with the Miami Police Department, led the 2006 Martin Luther King Day Parade in Miami. Thousands of people lined NW 54th Street to witness one of our nation's largest MLK Day parades. Troop E's color guard headed up the parade, followed by Troop Commander Major David McCarter riding in FHP's 1940 Ford patrol car, driven and maintained by Sergeant Jim Durden. In addition, Trooper A. J. Jackson drove one of the Patrol's Mercury Marauders followed by Troopers Mary Jackson and Tammy Broughton in one of the Occupant Protection Team's Chevy Tahoes. The parade featured marching bands, local churches, community organizations, and local politicians paying respect to the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
