Trooper Larry Coggins keeps score as a judge
at this year’s truck rodeo in Tampa.
Tampa Florida recently hosted the 68th Annual American Trucking Association's Truck Rodeo and the Florida Highway Patrol was there! The week long event brought the best professional truck drivers from across the USA together to compete against each other to determine America's best truck driver in a number of different classes.
Law enforcement officers from numerous highway patrol agencies from across the nation as well as officials from several trucking corporations turned out to judge the different events and categories of the annual competition. Trooper Larry Coggins, Public Affairs Officer for Troop C, was right in the thick of things, representing FHP and the home crowd as a pre-trip inspection judge. One by one, more than 300 of the nation's finest truck drivers performed a pre-trip inspection for Trooper Coggins and judging partner Rich Petersen of the Montana Highway Patrol.
On behalf of the men and women of the Florida Highway Patrol, we congratulate the winners of this year's truck rodeo and thank them for taking their safe driving skills to the road!
