The Florida Highway Patrol and other Tampa Bay area public service personnel were honored recently at the 11th annual Hero's Luncheon at the Tampa Convention Center.
This annual event recognizes the men and women of law enforcement who strive each day to make a difference in Florida. This year’s event recognized all of the men and women of the Florida Highway Patrol in a presentation entitled, "What does a hero look like." From the panhandle to the Florida Keys, FHP Troopers were shown in action determined to make Florida a safer place for us all to live in.
The FHP Troopers of the Year were recognized as well, along with the officers of the year from each of the Tampa Bay area law enforcement, Fire/Rescue, and military installations. Colonel Christopher Knight presented Troop A's Corporal Richard Warden and Trooper Milton Brown with the Florida Highway Patrol Trooper of the Year award for their actions during a shoot out with an armed suspect who had shot and injured a Bonifay Police Officer.
