Troop B of the Florida Highway Patrol recently provided the escort for Vice President Dick Cheney's motorcade during his campaign visit to Lake City, Florida. Vice President Cheney's visit to the Columbia County Fairgrounds in Lake City was an exhilarating experience for Columbia County residents and others who attended this history-making event. Columbia County residents were excited to shake Vice President Cheney's hand as he made his way around the Rope Line signing autographs.

Many hours of planning and preparation were involved in the successful escort of the Vice President during his visit to Lake City. The teamwork exhibited by all of the law enforcement agencies from the surrounding areas was impressive. FHP troopers and members from our motorcycle squad assisted in the Vice President's escort. Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Motorcycle unit, the Alachua County Sheriff's Department, and the Lake City Police Department--all provided additional assistance for the event.
